SFOC Board Member Linda Lewis Elbert to Offer Cooking Demo at the Great Park

October 25th, 2011 by Heather Westenhofer

From our friends at the Great Park:

The popular What’s Cooking at the Great Park? free food demonstration series returns for a second savory season.   On Saturday, November 5 at noon, Chefs Linda Lewis Elbert and Michell Betrall will showcase cooking and preparing with Herbs in the Fall Cuisine.  The demonstration follows the herbal Gifts from the Garden Workshop at the Great Park Farm + Food Lab at 10 am.

All in one day, learn how to assemble a three-plant herb pot as a gift for the holidays, and then how to use fresh herbs to create a fresh herb risotto or herb syrups for teas, sauces or drinks.   The cooking demonstration is part of the Great Park’s Health and Wellness programs that encourage a healthy, active lifestyle.

Chefs Linda Lewis Elbert and Michell Betrall have joined forces to create an innovative dining experience—the Basement Table.

Chef Michell Bretall is a classically trained professional chef, and has been catering for three years. After graduating from culinary school, Michell worked as a Sous Chef at Nicks Laguna Beach.

Chef Linda Lewis Elbert operates Mindful Cuisine, providing culinary services such as cooking classes, personal chef and small party catering.  She is also an instructor at Laguna Culinary Arts.

Both she and Michelle are co-owners of The Basement Table, http://www.thebasementtable.com/site/home.html a supper club that specializes in creating meals with seasonal, local, and organic ingredients.

For more information on this event, visit the Great Park website.
